Humanity in Human Rights Processes – HopeCore’s Approach to Promoting and Protecting Human Rights
The act of promoting and protecting human rights is one of the anchors for Village HopeCore International. A non-governmental organization founded in Chogoria Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya, is now growing at a hopeful speed to create a positive impact on the lives of Africans as a whole. The National Diversity and Inclusion Award & Recognition (DIAR) Awards is one of the prestigious awards in Kenya that recognizes individuals and organizations in various categories on diversity and inclusion. Village HopeCore International was honored to be the first runner-up for Best NGO on Human Rights promotions in 2021.
What does Village HopeCore International do differently that other stakeholders are not doing? There is no magic but a simple application of fundamental human rights. We believe in empowering persons in lower cadres and growing with them from day one to the last day of their success by providing primary health services, mainly concentrating on maternal healthcare and delivering fundamental rights like access to clean water to all Primary Schools within Tharaka Nithi County and beyond. Helping with menstrual management programs for girls; promoting vision programs by diagnosing and assisting in solving eyesight challenges whereas they give glasses to pupils, students, and deserved remote community members. The organization empowers community groups by providing affordable loans and working with community members toward their successful entrepreneurial journey. It is not only verbal advocacy of human rights but a practical and solution-bound approach to promoting and protecting human rights.
We believe that hope changes everything and have managed to create hopefulness in the hearts and faces of those who may have been considered hopeless. Promoting human rights by embracing verifiable hopeful activities has enabled Village HopeCore International to be recognized globally for this Award and other Awards and Recognition areas. The way you do things instills hope in the people. Not only theoretically but practically. Telling people that you have a right to basic needs and not providing for them is not a solution. Providing that basic need through empowering a person from the most disadvantaged level in the hope that it changes everything. Indeed, this is a basic human right. We refer to this as humanity in human rights.
The act of separating theoretical human rights advocacy into workable and practicable strategies of promoting and promoting human rights. We have a workable model that you can borrow from.
